A woman was killed and four other persons injured in a vehicular collision on the Melrose bypass in Manchester on Monday morning.

Dead is 60-year-old Norma McLean of Battersea district in Porus, Manchester, while injured are 42-year-old Michelle Platt of Berrydale district, Clarendon; Sonia Knight 42, Calvert Hamilton, 42 and Dalhone Richards 25, all of Watermount district in Porus.

Police reports from the Constabulary Communication Network 's liaison officer for Manchester are that about 6:30 a.m., all five persons were travelling in a Toyota Corolla motor car driven by Hamilton that was heading towards Mandeville.

On reaching a section of the road, the motor car was involved in a collision with another Toyota Corolla travelling in the opposite direction. All five persons received injuries. McLean died on the spot while the others were taken to Mandeville Hospital where they were treated and released.

The Mandeville Traffic Department is investigating.
