St George's College student stabbed

A student from St George's College was yesterday injured during a dispute with students from neighbouring Kingston College (K.C.).

The St. George's student was stabbed because of a feud which began last week after a girl who attends an all-female institution was reportedly assaulted. The feud has so far left one student from each institution nursing stab wounds. The latest being the St George's College student who was attacked in downtown Kingston yesterday.

Reports reaching THE STAR are that the feud began when a St George's College student reportedly slapped the female student who had a relationship with a K.C. student. It is further alleged that she told her boyfriend about the incident, and he reportedly came to her defence.

Bad vibes

When THE STAR visited the St George's College compound yesterday, the newsteam was unable to speak with the principal as teachers said she was in a meeting. However, one female teacher confirmed that a student from the school had been stabbed and was currently at Kingston Public Hospital receiving treatment. She was unable to say if the injury was serious.

While leaving the St George's College campus, three second form students asked to be accompanied to their bus stops in downtown as they feared being attacked as a result of the 'bad vibes' taking place between the neighbouring schools.

Yesterday, principal of Kingston College, Rupert Hemmings said that efforts were already under way to quell the disturbance among the boys. He said he visited St George's College yesterday and spoke with the students about the incident and that St George's College was expected to do the same at his institution today. He said he hoped this would get the students to behave in acceptable ways that will reflect the institution.

The police said that while they have heard about yesterday's incident downtown where a student was stabbed, they are unable to provide specifics, as the matter was not reported.
