Mother of 2-y-o charged with child abandonment

Little Rajay at the City Centre Police Station on Monday. - Ricardo Makyn

The mother of the two-year-old boy who was left at the City Centre Police Station on Monday has been taken into custody.

Nickiesha Bucknall, 23, of Bottom Lynster, Scotts Hall, St Mary, has been charged with creating public mischief and child abandonment.

Bucknall left the child at the police station and told officers that she had done his 'mother's' hair and she had abandoned him. With the help of the public, however, investigating officer, District Constable Collin Markes, discovered that Bucknall was in fact the mother and she was arrested and charged.

She is to appear in the Family Court today.
