Dear Pastor,
I am a 27-year-old woman living in the United States of America, but I am from Jamaica. I have been living in the USA since I was 9 years old. I visit Jamaica two to three times a year. I even have a child for someone who lives in Jamaica. My child's father and I are not together, but I have found a true love out there. I love him endlessly, but my problem is that all my friends here in the USA are telling me that I should not marry him and bring him to the States because we all know that when they get here, they leave us. I am a strong believer in whatever happens, it should have been. All I know is that I love him with all my heart.
So, can you please give me some advice, please? Thank you in advance.
N.B., New York, USA
Dear N.B.,
If you are in love with the man who is living in Jamaica and you believe that you have a future together, don't allow anyone to discourage you from marrying him. There are good and bad Jamaican men and there are good and bad American men. And there are good and bad American women. Some American men are not good providers and some Jamaican men are not good providers, but some are. If you have a good Jamaican man, go for it.
