WELL STIRRED

Left: One might disagree with her, but so what, flaunt it anyway sister. Right: Best party shoes... And she still got down on the dancefloor.

Legs did a lot of 'talking' last Saturday night at Peppers, Waterloo Road, as hundreds of patrons danced the night away to some pulsating '80s, '90s beat at Stir It Up.

When THE STAR team arrived at the venue at approximately 11:30 p.m., there were only a few patrons present. A few rocked to the music being spun by the Renaissance selectors, while others enjoyed the complimentary campari.

At midnight, the Renaissance selectors revolutionised the party when they switched genres. After playing an extended set that comprised mainly dance music, the selectors played JC Lodge's Dial My Number and Telephone Love much to the delight of the growing number of patrons. As soon as Lady G declared No Respect, Gregory Isaacs dismissed this as Rumours (them spreading), and all this time the patrons were right in the mix.

On the outside, the parking space was getting even scarcer as Annette Crescent and neighbouring roads were filled with vehicles. On the inside, the patrons were dancing to Robert Ffrench's Rough and Tuff and Courtney Melody's Modern Girl.

The musical selections whetted the appetite of the patrons who openly welcomed Wayne Smith on the Sleng Teng Rhythm singing Under Mi Sleng Teng. The tempo was turned up a notch with the introduction of the H&V selectors who started their set on a high with Sanchez's Missing You Now.

A few selections from Beres Hammond had the patrons singing and rocking. However, selections from the Gargamel, otherwise known as Buju, had the patrons dancing up a storm. This was eclipsed however by several hard-hitting songs from Beenie Man, Bounty Killer and Spragga Benz. The musical selection from the early part of their vast catalogues found favour with the patrons, many of whom danced seductively.

At 1:45 a.m. Arif Cooper reintroduced the dance music genre and used the pulsating beats to tickle the dance nerves of the patrons. A switch to soca music did the trick in starting a gyrating frenzy among members of the vast audience. Baby Cham's Man And Man and Beenie Man's Trouble Maker received a rousing welcome from the patrons who once again welcomed the dancehall genre.

Renaissance took over again at 2:45 a.m. and drove the party to a climax. They went hip-hop and had the patrons jamming to a few selections from the Notorious Big, including Hypnotise and All About the Benjamins. Naughty By Nature's O.P.P. found favour with the patrons and so did a Busta Rhymes and Spragga Benz remix.

When THE STAR team was departing the venue at 3:10 a.m. the patrons were moving to Bounty Killer and Dawn Penn's It's A Party. No one was going anywhere. The patrons, seemingly hypnotised by the near flawless musical selections, stayed back to ensure they received the entire musical thrill the selectors had to offer.

A bevy of beauties dressed in red and black caught the eye of the camera at Stir It Up Party, held at Peppers NightClub, Upper Waterloo Road, on Saturday night, April 19.
