Entertaining throngs of people with their hit move, 'Right Turn', Flankers-based Federation dancers have the ability to mesmerise everyone around them.

It may be their unusual sense of fashion: trendy sunglasses, chunky gold chains, necklaces made of rubber bands. But when Fresh, Kemar, Rockan, Troy, Kevin and Baby Boi step into a room, they are quick to get attention.

"Once you're in the world of entertainment, it's all about fashion. Clothes no look good pon you; a you mek de clothes look good," Kemar told The STAR.

Power of six

These versatile dancers range in age between 20-23 years. What started as a large group, eventually narrowed down to six dancers. Their reduced number, however, did not affect their act.

"We just have a party vibe, everybody jus' love fe watch we dance," said Fresh, who explained that selector Ceyon from Sniper Sound, inspired by Vybz Kartel, dubbed them the Federation dancers. The members of the group do not hesitate to explain that they have been endorsed by disc jocks such as Crazy Chris and Kentucky, who have contributed to their popularity.

Scrappy

Another important link to their success is a local videographer known as Scrappy.

"Scrappy mek we worldwide," said Kemar, who explained that he has featured them in numerous videos, which has made them very popular locally and overseas. In fact, the group has been the recipient of numerous awards, gleaning trophies from Dutty Fridaze, Flankers Friday Anniversary celebrations, Exact Mondays and Wacky Wednesdays.

Apart from Right Turn, they have invented a slew of other dances such as 'Dung A Bay', 'Stick Them Up', 'Gully God' and 'Churchyard'. It is also interesting to note that Rockan is the original founder of the dance 'Frogback' which made Flankers-based dancer, Marvin, popular.

They are booked for a show in New York and others in Europe.
