Three years of grief

Marlon Vickerman, Star Writer

Annerica Scarlet - Contributed

It did not take long for the tears to start making streaks down Shana-Kay Reid's face after she started speaking about her mother, Annerica Scarlet, whom she has not seen since January 2005.

Scarlet, a mother of five, is said to have left home three years ago, along with her youngest child Jannell Crichton to visit the child's father (Mark Crichton) in Montego Bay. Reid said it was a trip that her mother frequently took.

"She always go to MoBay to spend time and then come back home to Dover Castle in St. Catherine," Reid said. "The longest she would ever stay in MoBay was for two months maximum but never more than that."

Reid said that since her mother left for Montego Bay in 2005, she was only able to speak with her in 2006 after she reported her mother missing at the August Town Police Station. She (Reid) was living in Goldsmith Villa at that point.

"After I made the report I gave the police a number that I had for Mark and they got in touch with him. He told the police that he keeps telling my mother to come home to look for us, but she is stubborn and won't budge," a teary-eyed Reid recalled. "So, I called the number the following Sunday and I got her. I asked her if she was not coming home then she started crying on the phone, that was the last time I spoke to my mother."

Shana-Kay said she does not know the specific address that her mother went to visit Mark Crichton at in Montego Bay but is making an appeal to public. She is asking anyone out there with information of her mother's whereabouts to call any of the following numbers at any time.

Numbers to call: 841-7318, 587-5750, 449-3519, 870-3666, 421-4755, 535-2979.
