Surprise eliminations shocked judges

By Tanola Jackson, Star Writer

Baby Tash - Nathaniel Stewart

It came as quite a shock to both the judges and audience, when emcee Empress announced that Tellah and Day Injah were the two contestants eliminated from last week's show.

"I'm kinda really surprised about the results, didn't expect that Tellah was the one who would be eliminated," Skatta said.

The four remaining contestants Monalisa, Senita, Singer Jah and Baby Tash, each performed three songs for the night, the first being a previous favourite, followed by two originals before ending with a clash.

Singer Jah was the first performer for the night, singing No One But You. Miss Kitty enjoyed his performance but Skatta thought, "it registered better the first time."

The delivery of Singer Jah's other songs, In My Arms and Fluffy, was a hit with the ladies and much better than his first performance.

Senita was next doing Children of the World. Both General Degree and guest judge Geefus agreed that the song was good.

Senita proved his versatility when he came out with a briefcase during the performance of his second song Fi Mi Law. The song was well received by audience members.

Lyrical artillery

Monalisa followed with her song Dat Ting. Her performance was once more a surprise and even better than before.

Baby Tash was next doing Repeat Verse. Both the judges and audience liked her song as her lyrical artillery aimed at ousted contestant Tellah, thrilled everyone.

"Wi get the true meaning of dancehall an Baby Tash came prepared," Skatta said.

In the clash segment, it was Senita who battled Singer Jah, while Monalisa went up against Baby Tash.

Senita was declared the winner for his segment, while it was Monalisa who copped it for the queen.

During each break, the crowd was treated to a little entertainment. First, a glimpse of female and male fashions by Richie Denz, then a dance choreographed by Kameica Reid.

Now, it's down to the wire, and left up to you the public to vote and watch TVJ next Saturday to see who will be crowned the first Magnum King and Queen of Dancehall.
