Jah Sesco spins reggae in Germany

Krista Henry, Staff Reporter

Jah Sesco - Contributed

Reggae artiste Jah Sesco is creating reggae music live and direct from Germany as he looks forward to his latest reggae album.

Born and raised in Tobago, Jah Sesco is a singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist. He discovered his love for music at an early age.

He told the STAR, "I started at the age of 11 and did my first singing competition in my father's club in Tobago. My love for music really started at the club where they used to play a lot of reggae and dancehall." He has been capturing audiences ever since his first stint in the club.

In the 1980s, Jah Sesco was active with a number of sound systems before going to Germany in 1994 after being signed to a company there. He, however, frequently visits the Caribbean.

Making a name

He quickly made a name for himself in the national reggae scene performing with renowned artistes including Gabriel Le Mar, Zoe, Yah Meek, Linda Carriere, TOK and House of Riddim. He has also performed together with Alozade & Zumjay, KP Crew and Fourty Fiyah Band.

Jah Sesco cites his first big break as happening in 2002 when his song with Cappucino titled No Secrets became a regular on the national music channel MTV. His video Everything You Do was played on VIVA as well. Jah Sesco is working as producer for other artistes with his 'cesbeatz productions'.

Currently, Jah Sesco is working on his fourth album to be released this summer. His previous albums such as Come Out and Lord Is Thy Sherperd received good rating in Germany and the Caribbean.

Jah Sesco is looking forward to his new reggae/dancehall album, The Observer. "It's reggae and dancehall, but I'm trying to write and bring my own vibes, I'm not trying to sound like other artistes," he said.

For the future Jah Sesco is expecting only the best as he said: "I'm in the studio and gonna continue being in the studio trying to do positive music, doing my ting."
