Portmore's own Sunill Kissendal, the island's top ranked pool player, has been invited to play in the first Palo Viejo 9-Ball Pool Classic in Puerto Rico from Friday, April 18, to Sunday, April 20.
The formal invitation came from the president of the Puerto Rican Billiard Federation, Harold Acosta.
The Caribbean/International event will be held at Criollo Sports Bar and Restaurant in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico.
Kissendal says it is an honour to be singled out for the 9-Ball Classic and the experience will do him a lot of good. "I believe I can make an impression on my first overseas tour, judging from my performance against the world's number-one female pool player Allison Fisher when she visited Jamaica last year. I was the only player to beat her in a game," he recalled.
Kissendal, who represents both Cue Plus in Portmore and Mystic Sports Bar, Hagley Park Road, says he is seeking sponsorship for not only this, but other overseas trips he is planning in the months ahead.
The 24-year-old player, who resides at Four West in Portmore, recently won the Mystix 8-Ball tournament, slamming the highly ranked Ewart Hall 4-0 in the final to secure the $30,000 first prize.
