Portsmouth F.C. are still celebrating their 6-5 sudden death penalty shoot-out win over arch-rivals Watson Grove in the final of the Colin Fagan-sponsored Portmore Division Two Knock-out Football final at the Ferdie Neita Park on Sunday.
Substitute Craig Bernard became hero when he slotted home his team's sixth and final penalty kick, and was chased and held onto by fans and teammates.
Other scorers for Portsmouth were Kevin Williams, Dwayne Brown, Xavier Gayle, Richard Renton and Hosea Bernard.
The game, which was played at a fast pace, was goalless for 110 minutes of playing time, including regulation and extra time. Portsmouth should have won the game in normal time but faulty shooting by their attackers let them down.
But, Watson Grove's goalie Omar Nelson kept them in the game making three crucial saves, parrying two shots heading to the roof of the net and saving a penalty kick taken by Portsmouth's captain Hosea Renton in the 77th minute of play.
At the end of the game, Colin Fagan, Member of Parliament for South East St Catherine, and sponsor for the competition, handed over the Colin Fagan KO trophy to captain, Hosea Renton, while teammates cheered in
