WESTERN BUREAU:
A woman who allegedly suffered multiple stab wounds at the hands of a man with whom she had a relationship said she is willing to talk to him about her medical bills.
The complainant told the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Monday that she had forgiven her attacker and was willing to have dialogue with him to discuss compensation for her medical bills.
She said she had spoken to the family of the accused man, 38-year-old Dwight Reid of Providence Heights in Montego Bay, who is charged with attempted murder.
However, RM Winsome Henry turned down her request and set the case for preliminary enquiry on April 22.
Allegations are that the complainant was at the Poor Relief office on Union Street in Montego Bay when Reid came and told her that he needed to speak to her. However, she told him to wait.
It is further alleged that he returned and began quarrelling about the length of time she had him waiting. It is alleged that he took out a ratchet knife and began hitting the complainant all over her face. He then opened the blade and began stabbing the complainant all over her body and continued to stab her even as she was on the ground.
It is alleged that a security guard tried to assist the woman but was chased away by the accused. It is also alleged that the accused had told persons to call the police as he was going to kill the complainant. The complainant passed out and later woke up in a police vehicle en route to the hospital. She was admitted for six days.
