MARKSMAN Roen Nelson struck at the death last night for leaders Portmore United to earn a 1-1 draw at defending champions Harbour View, salvaging a point, which pushed them two clear of Tivoli Gardens atop the Cash Plus Premier League standings.

Speedy Kavin Bryan put Harbour View ahead in the 63rd minute at the Harbour View Mini Stadium but Nelson, the league's leading scorer, found the equaliser in the final minute, dousing the hopes of the champions, whose dreams of retaining their title get slimmer with every game played.

Sharing 44 points with Waterhouse, Harbour View are fourth on goal difference, 14 behind Portmore, who inched to 58, two ahead of Tivoli, who were taken out 2-1 by Boys' Town George Vernal's double at the Edward Seaga Stadium.

Vernal netted in the 51st and 52nd minutes to keep Tivoli on 56 points while his team crept closer to their beaten rivals, maintaining third place on 47 points.

Kevin Blackford scored Tivoli's consolation goal in the 63rd minute.

49th-minute strike

Meanwhile, Waterhouse stayed fifth on goal difference, sharing 44 points with Harbour View, after Jonathan Williams' 90th-minute goal saved the blushes at Drewsland, cancelling Denroy Dennis' 49th-minute strike for promoted St Georges.

Whereas the draw kept Waterhouse fifth, the draw did very little for St Georges, who are eighth on goal difference, sharing 36 points with ninth-place Seba, and look set to play in the bottom-six to avoid relegation with only two games left in the third round.

Village United hung on to sixth-place on goal difference, following their 0-0 draw with seventh-place Sporting Central with whom they share 38 points.

The trailing quartet failed to improve their positions as next-to-last Reno drew 2-2 with last-place August Town and Arnett Gardens gave up a 90th-minute goal at home against Seba United for a 1-1 draw.
