Cops seize illegal rifle

Dwayne Mcleod, Staff Reporter

The East Kingston Police seized a rifle and several rounds of ammunition during a raid in several areas of the division yesterday.

A rifle, a handgun, six magazines, several rounds of ammunition, a pair of night-vision goggles and more than a dozen cellphones were reportedly found during the raid.

Canadian, English and Cay-man currency along with six bank pass books were allegedly found.

According to reports, the police conducted a search of several premises and seized several items which investigators theorised are linked to a well-connected gunrunner.

It was reported that two men, believed to be gunrunners were also arrested. Their identities are, however, being withheld pending further investigations.

The police also further reported that several men and women were taken into custody in connection with the findings.

Investigations continue.
