Jamaica's Reggae Girlz were whipped 8-1 by hosts Mexico in their opening match of the 2008 CONCACAF women's Olympic qualification at the Estadio Ol'mpico Benito Juarez in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua on Wednesday.
Juana Evelyn Lopez scored four times for Mexico in the 18th, 28th, 36th and 53rd minutes. Tania Morales scored twice in the 25th and 66th minutes while the Mexican's got their other goals from Teresa Worbis, 23rd and Monica Ocampo 80th. Omolyn Davis scored the consolation goal for Jamaica in the 58th minute of the Group A match. Jamaica played more than half the match with just 10 players after Natalyn Manyan was sent off in the 33rd minute.
In a Group B encounter, Canada blanked Trinidad and Tobago 6-0. Jonelle Filigno, Randee Hermus, Kara Lang, Jodi Ann Robinson, Christine Sinclair and Melissa Tancredi were the scorers for Canada.
The tournament continues this evening with Jamaica facing powerhouse, the United States in the feature match at 7:30 after Costa Rica face Trinidad & Tobago 5:00.
The semi-finals and final of the CONCACAF tournament will take place on April 9 and 12. The two finalists at the CONCACAF event will progress to the womenÕs Olympic football tournament in Beijing next August.
