REPEAT winner LOVINGGOOD stunned most Pick-9 bettors early Monday afternoon to send a whopping $3.59m carryover to tomorrow's 11-race card, giving punters another chance at millions in jackpots at Caymanas Park.
Tomorrow's programme, which also has a guaranteed Super-6 jackpot of $500,000, starting at the fifth event, appears to be a challenging one, making bankers as good as gold.
Champion trainer Wayne DaCosta's CLOCK WORK appears to have his work cut out at 1400 metres in the fifth, the first Super-6 race, after losing back-to-back at shorter distances earlier this month.
However, the speedy American is this week's Super-6 and Pick-9 banker of the day as he is set to give his five rivals a pace lesson they will never forget.
Stepping back down in class among Open Allowance company, where he lost to MEDICAL REPORT at 1200 metres at the start of the month, CLOCK WORK now has the handicaps in his favour, running against much slower rivals.
CLASSY BOY PETE is being touted as the horse to beat but he'll have to catch CLOCK WORK, against whom the entire field is sitting too close in the weights, nullifying their chances of taking the speedster off his bridle for the first five and a half-furlong.
Note how CLOCK WORK's stablemate, PASSA PASSA, and Gary Subratie's FIRST IN THE SAND are each sitting at 55.0 kilos, 14 and 12 pounds, respectively, heavier than when they had finished ahead of a used-up CLOCK WORK in the 1400-metre Eros Trophy on February 23.
CLASSY BOY PETE is a strong finisher but does not like to be used up in the early pace, which is exactly what will happen with him carrying 57.0 kilos and having to chase CLOCK WORK, at level weight, down the backstretch.
SIR KHAN is super-fit but up in class and will be taken out of his natural pace down the backstretch, killing his chances.
CLOCK WORK has the perfect draw and only needs Dane Nelson to keep still in the saddle down the backstretch before asking his mount to run up the lane.
Pick-9 players should get off to a flying start by banking EL PASO CITY and IMAGE DANCER in the first two races.
EL PASO CITY, with Jason Simpson aboard, renews rivalry at 1000 metres straight with GOOD SENSE, who tagged him at the distance back in January. However, EL PASO CITY reports 14 pounds lighter and should turn the table as he has been blazing from the gate in the mornings.
IMAGE DANCER should get off the mark at 1200 metres with Richard Mitchell after being outsped going a furlong shorter on March 12. There is no holding speed in the fillies only maiden race and Dwight Chen's runner has been working too well at exercise to lose, having shown ability at a mile behind MINISTEROFJUSTICE.
Other bankers on the card are IN THE PRIME with Nelson in the ninth at 1100 metres and Mitchell should guide home the down-in-class POWERFUL BELLE in the 10th at 1000 metres straight.
