A section of Kew Road, St Andrew. The Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation (KSAC) has since started repairing the road. - Norman Grindley
AS PART of our mission to be the People Paper, THE WEEKEND STAR has been highlighting problem areas across the island. Our Reporter Carolyn Johnson, along with photographer Norman Grindley, will focus on a particular area until the problem is fixed. Now we will have a rough idea of how long the relevant authorities take to deal with some of the problems affecting our country.
Kew Road may be patched much earlier than we thought, at least we hope so.
Two weeks ago we spoke with Linton Evan, town clerk at the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation (KSAC). He said while there were no funds for a full repair of Kew Road, a roving project has been authorised to do patching on roads in the Corporate Area. Though he said the work would have started in April, they have already begun.
WOW, the KSAC has so far exceeded our expectation and is making true on its promise. We hope the commendations will continue and Kew Road will at least have a proper surface soon. We urge the corporation, however, to look into a full rehabilitation soon.
Our congratulations this week are also extended to the Kingston City Centre Improvement Committee (KCCIC) and the Urban Development Corporation (UDC).We see that renovation has begun on the St William Grant Park, downtown Kingston. We eagerly await the completion, which according to a Jamaica Information Service (JIS) press release, issued in January, should end in September.
