Investigations are still continuing into the circumstances which sparked an early morning shoot-out at the British Link-Up dance which was staged at La Roose, Portmore, St. Catherine on Saturday.

The incident left one man, Clifton 'Chocutto' Reid dead, while eight other persons were injured.

When contacted, Director of Communications for the Jamaica Constabulary Force, Karl Angel said "investigations are continuing, we are still collecting evidence by questioning people. We have not received the results of the tests as yet."

Police reports are that about 7:45 , patrons at the establishment began firing shots at each other.

During the melee, six persons including Reid were shot. He died on the spot. Two other persons were injured in a stampede, while another was hit from his motorcycle as he tried to flee the scene. The injured persons were taken to hospitals in Kingston and St. Catherine for treatment

One patron who claimed to witnessing the incident, later told THE STAR that the shooting began following a discussion between a member of the British Link-Up crew and a well known entertainment figure.
