Mavado hoping for bail

Teino Evans, Staff Reporter

Mavado - file

Following Mavado's arrest yesterday, his manager, Julian Jones-Griffith, told THE STAR in a interview that he remains hopeful that the artiste will receive bail after his court appearance which is scheduled for today.

"He will be going to court tomorrow (today) and we are hoping that we will get bail, that's what we are hoping for," Jones-Griffith said.

According to Mavado's manager, although there currently are no major shows lined up for the artiste, "He was suppose to be going to Trinidad this weekend, but by tomorrow we will know everything that's going on."

And as it relates to the gun charges that Mavado, whose real name is David Brooks, was held on, Jones-Griffith said he had "no further comments, because it's an ongoing investigation. But in time, everything will be proven because these are all allegations".

On Wednesday, Mavado was arrested after he turned himself over to the Kingston and St Andrew Major Investigation Task Force at their downtown offices.

According to the police, Mavado was held and charged in relation to an incident on Mannings Hill Road on July 27 when two persons were shot.

He is scheduled to appear in the Gun Court today.
