Who should buy the morning after pill?

We're back! THE STAR poll is here once again and dare we say, better than ever. We hit the streets with all the juiciest questions about sex, obeah, music, religion and much more and now we're ready to give you the results. Prepare to be shocked and amused like never before.

Arguments suggesting that the use of the morning after pill should be limited only to adults, have become very popular. Many people believe that the ready access to the drug has made it easier for teenage girls to abuse the pill, instead of using mainstream methods of birth control.

We wanted to find out exactly how people felt about this, so we asked :

Do you think that anybody, regardless of their age, should be allowed to purchase the morning after pill or do you think teenagers below a certain age should not be allowed to purchase the morning after pill?

Check out the results :

Anybody Allowed

to Purchase...............................34% (342.72)

Not Allowed Below

a Certain Age............................57% (574.56)

Don't Know....................................9% (90.72)

The majority of those polled believe that youngsters below a certain age should not be allowed to purchase the morning after pill. Most of those who believe this are women, but the men are very close behind.

It is easy to understand why people would want access to the pill to be restricted as it has been proven that there are some females who misuse the pill and neglect to practise safe methods of contraception.

The poll was conducted on January 28-29 by Johnson Survey Research Limited

Sample size: 1,008 residents

Number of respondents

574.56

342.72

90.72
