Hyperactive Clique - Anthony Minott
Hyperactive Clique, the duo with the most public votes last week, brought their 'A-dance' to the floor at the STAR-sponsored Dancin' Dynamites at the TVJ Studios on Lyndhurst Road, St Andrew, on Sunday night.
The audience and judges thoroughly enjoyed their performance to country music. They also received the highest combined score of 27. Judge Orville Hall took out is finger pistol to applaud this one and gave them a perfect 10.
"They did their research, well presented," he said.
Guest judge Yendi Phillipps, Miss Jamaica 2007, also liked the dance but thought they should connect more with the audience, and stop focusing on the floor; she gave them a nine. Judge Neila Ebanks also liked it and gave them an eight.
Flair Force, who received the second highest score of 26 from the judges, gave an energetic performance kicking to a soca beat.
"The entertainment value was high, very good way to start," was how Judge Orville described their performance. He gave them an eight. Judge Yendi commended them for their use of space and "the floor patterns were interesting", she gave them a nine. Judge Neila was also satisfied with the duo's effort and also gave them a nine.
G-Squad, the duo with the second highest public votes, was tied for third in the judges' books with 25 points, with Untouchable Squad, G-Squad a male duo showed flair and a lot of energy while jumping to the rhythm of Soca. Judge Yendi loved it.
"Very high energy, good floor patterns", she, however, cautioned them that they need to be sharper on their movements. Untouchable Squad danced to traditional music, and got good responses from the judges.
X-Factor got the nod from the judges on the heels of the duo's male dancer who kept out-dancing the female dancer. They received a combined score of 23 for fifth in the judges ranking.
Getthoe Rise, sixth on the judges' ranks, with a combined score off 22 points, was creative with their delivery.
Orville was impressed with their performance and Yendi thought it was a good effort, seeing that it was a "hard challenge and out of their element".
Yendi advised Unlimited Dancers who brought praise to the studios with a gospel medley: "If you are going to sing, make sure you know the words."
Neila was not pleased with the entrance of the dance, while Orville was not entirely pleased with their delivery. They received seven points apiece from the judges for a total score of 21.
Venom did not sting this time around, receiving seven points each from the judges, for a total of 21. Judge Orville said their performance didn't "move" him, "they didn't extend themselves".
Yendi felt that they didn't give the dance their best shot "Everything is a challenge treat it like your last," she warned.
Mad Link with their country and western dance hovered near the bottom with 20 points from the judges, while, Blaze-Az (19), HJ Squad (19), a group that had the third highest number of public votes, and Mad Squad were the three duo's that failed to reach 20 points, and will await the voting public to see if they stay on the show.
The audience had to say goodbye to duos Sigma H2 and Rock Star who were eliminated off the show because of insufficient votes.
Next week, two more duos will be eliminated.
