Tournament favourite, National Master Brandon Wilson of the University of the West Indies, holds a slim lead in the 2008 National Junior Chess Championships, currently taking place at the RBTT Bank head office in New Kingston. Four rounds of play have been completed.

At the end of round four on Sunday, Wilson had secured three points from four games, half point ahead of Campion's Zachary Ramsay and Stuart James of Wolmer's Boys, who are tied in second place on 2.5 points each.

Wilson and Ramsay began the second day tied in the lead on two points each. Both players, however, suffered major setbacks with Wilson losing his round four game on Sunday to James and Ramsay drawing his round three game with Damion Davy and losing his round four game to Lucien Rowe.

Rowe and Davy are each on two points and tied for fourth place with defending champion Onaje La Mont of Glenmuir and Campion's Phillip Pryce. Campion's Kadeem Knight is in eighth place and yet to get off the mark.

The final three rounds of the championship will take place next Saturday and Sunday.
