Bridgeport Primary School held its 29th sports day on Tuesday and saw a massive turnout of parents and guardians.

THE PORTMORE STAR visited the location about noon and found it abuzz with activities. Events such as 50m race, 4x100 metre were well executed by the young athletes, who, with their bare feet send shock waves through the many that stood by braving the hot sun and the dust nuisance, to enjoy themselves.

Four houses, namely Parakeet, Humming Bird, Robin and Egret, took part in the day's activities. It was a well put together event with the exception of the dust and Principal Pearl Morgan told THE PORTMORE STAR that the staging of this sports day was a very special one for her, being her last as principal of the institution.

"I thoroughly enjoy the day's activities and having been here for several years and 30 years in the classroom, it is indeed a special occasion for me as I go into retirement later this year," remarked Ms. Morgan.

It was the consensus of those who spoke to THE PORTMORE STAR that Sports Day at Bridgeport Primary is always special. One of their most recent graduate, Jazeel Murphy, won the class three, 200 metre, at the recently concluded Boys' and Girls' Athletic Championships. The days activity shows that many more Murphy's are in the making, if they are allowed to realise their true potential.
