Correctional officers charged for drugs

Four correctional officers were arrested for breaching the Dangerous Drugs Act following the seizure of a quantity of marijuana at the Armadale Correctional Centre in Alexandria, St Ann on Tuesday.

Charged with possession of ganja are Sophia Meeks,35, of Flynn River and Deon Morrison, 24, of Hopewell, both in St Mary. Also charged are Cheryl Gentles, 39, and Patricia Patterson, both from Buff Bay, Portland.

Reports are that about 8:30 a.m., a search was carried out in the female quarters of the facility. During the search, two parcels of ganja were found in a room occupied by the four accused persons.

They were arrested and charged.

The Alexandria police are investigating.
