Top-flight representa-tivesArnett Gardens proved too hot to handle when they thrashed St Elizabeth Super League team Holland PYC 5-0 in the COK Champions Cup at the Tony Spaulding Complex yesterday.

Horace Sharpe hit the net four times as the superior Junglists, though just outside of the relegation zone in the premier league, had little problems dismissing their opponents. Sharpe opened the scoring in the 27th minute from the penalty spot before netting again in the 46th and 53rd minutes and then closing out the scoring from the penalty spot again in the 72nd minute. Fabian Smith scored the game's other goal in the 55th minute.

In another game, August Town came away 1-0 victors over fellow premier league cellar dwellers Reno at the UWI Bowl. The diminutive Mitchily Waul headed the home team into the lead in the 41st minute before Reno spurned several opportunities to pull level.

In the 64th minute, Troy Reid drifted into the goal area from the left flank but, facing August Town custodian Damion Hyatt from a tough angle, scooped an awkward right-footed shot high over the crossbar.

Fabian Blake also had a solid opportunity 10 minutes later but, finding himself unmarked in front of goal, crouched to head wide of the target.

"We were unfortunate here today. We dominated the game but conceded a soft goal. They basically conceded the goal out of nothing," said Reno coach Wendell Downswell.

"We came out even more purposeful in the second half but just could not find that all-important equaliser," he said.

August Town coach Dominic Spaulding was not only happy to be advancing to the second round, but for the momentum he hopes it will bring.

"It was an ugly win, but it's good for the team. We need the momentum. It would be nice if it was three (premier league) points, but it's a very good win," he said

In the day's other games, Barbican, led by a 69th-minute goal by Sheldon Davey, got the better of New Green 1-0 at Brooks Park. At Baldwin Crescent, Duhaney Park got by Exidus 1-0 courtesy of Dwight Gordon netting the lone goal in the 42nd minute.
