Painter killed by truck

A 47-year-old painter died from injuries he sustained after he was hit by a truck on the compound of the Fiesta Hotel at Point in Hanover on Wednesday.

Dead is Peter Evans of Baulk district in the parish.

Reports from the CCN's liaison officer for Hanover are that about 8:30 a.m., Evans was among workers standing at the gate when he was hit by a Mitsubishi truck registered CE9623 that was entering the compound. He sustained multiple injuries and died on the spot. The police were called and the body removed to the morgue for post-mortem.

Following the incident, workers staged a demonstration at the site, during which a pick up truck was destroyed by fire and several villas damaged.

The Lucea police are investigating.
