Dancehall Queen Stacy is showing off more than her dancing skills these days as a manager for the sound system Platinum Overkill.

Standing tall with four selectors - Master Lee, Spread Di Glory, DJ Dumplin and Sheperd Jr - Platinum Overkill is gaining momentum in the dancehall with dancer Stacy at the helm.

According to Stacy, the sound has been around for the last seven years but has been re-introduced to the dancehall since she has taken over promoting the sound around the country and in the dances. Stacy joined the sound two years ago after being asked by the owner of the sound to take over its day-to-day running.

"I did a show abroad and the owner was throwing it around and I thought it would be a good idea to put something else under my belt. My aim is to mek everybody know di name 'cause mi bring popularity to the sound, nobody neva know bout it before," she told the STAR.

So far the sound has been making its name at dances such as Passa Passa, Dutty Fridaze and Drop Draws, as well as play outs across the island. While the sound has been doing well, there are a number of persons who are left wondering if Stacy has dropped out of the dancing scene.

"People need to get familiar with the idea of me as a manager but I'm doing my ting, I'm still dancing. Dancing is my first love, that will always be my passion," Stacy said.

According to Stacy, she has a number of ideas for the sound and for further business ventures, but she has her plate full with getting the sound to the level of excellence that she always strives for. While her fans are welcoming Stacy's new role, being a female in a male-dominated industry is not easy.

She said "Di fans welcome me but in the industry a woman is not gonna be welcomed with open arms. But di ting is to have patience. When dem realise a serious ting, is not as easy. Maybe dem feel dat mi a step pon dere grounds. It's harder being a manager than being Dancehall Queen Stacy, I've been there and done that - it's lock."

Not one to be discouraged, Stacy will continue to promote her sound, Platinum Overkill, across Jamaica.
