George Henry - Tishanne Maragh

SPALDINGS, CLARENDON:
Followers of Jesus Christ are expected to be witnesses for Him immediately after they have surrendered their lives and become born-again Christians. Well, such was the thinking of Sunday school teacher, Tishanne Maragh, when she started her walk with Jesus over eight years ago at the Discovery Bay Tabernacle Church in St Ann.She believes that every Christian should be able to witness to everyone they come in contact with while they walk the Christian journey. According to her, when persons are not Christians, it is difficult to witness to others about the Creator.
"When you are in the church and the little ones (children) come to you, young people come to you, you have a ground right there to start on and to work on and just feed on and build through the years," noted the Sunday school teacher, who is also a trained teacher.
Maragh pointed out that she was not a regular Sunday school student prior to becoming a Christian. She said when she was younger, because she was always moving, she could not settle into a church for long. She has learnt though that Sunday school is an important part of all Christians' spiritual growth.
very sceptical
Maragh added that it was important for Christians to use every opportunity to talk about God because it would help to build them spiritually. She further said that when Christians do so they are always in the presence of the Lord, and hence, when temptation comes their way, they are better able to deal with it.
"I am very careful with the things that the world is doing. Even the type of movies that persons watch. I am very sceptical about them. I choose them very carefully," noted Maragh.
Maragh also reminded parents that one of their roles in life is to ensure children are brought up in the way of the Lord. She added that many parents have failed and many are failing to realise that children should be reared knowing about God and how He is to be worshipped.
She wants parents to know that if they would want blessings to follow their children, they should ensure that their children attend Sunday school.
Maragh added that when parents prevent their children from attending Sunday school, they are blocking them from the way of the Lord. She said children should be given a chance to experience Christ for themselves, so that they can be able to make their own spiritual decision, as to whether they want to be Christ's followers or not.
