Deadly dominoes

Two men were shot dead by gunmen along St John's Road, St Catherine, yesterday.

Dead are Christopher Banzie and Brian Warner, both from the area.

Police say about 3:30 p.m., men dressed in blue denim worn by police personnel and armed with high-powered weapons disturbed a game of dominoes being played by four persons, including Banzie and Warner.

The men fired shots hitting Warner and Banzie and another man, who has been hospitalised. The fourth person escaped injury. Warner died on the spot and Banzie died while undergoing treatment.

Banzie's common-law wife, Thelma Williamson, said he was a great person.

"He was a very hard-working person. One who would have given everything to persons he knew, and as far as I am concerned the best of me is gone. And me just cut a orange and give him piece," she cried.

While the St Catherine North Homicide unit have not estab-lished a motive for the killing of the two men, they claimed that intensive investigation is under way.

The area was visited by deputy mayor of Spanish Town and councillor for the area, Owen Palmer, who told THE STAR that despite the best efforts of the lawmen, persons with sinister intentions still found loopholes to come into the area and maim, disfigure and kill persons.
