THE EDITOR, Sir:
An evangelist said "Live this day as if it is your last day" and we should take a note of this. Let us bear in mind this little saying: "If you know the right thing and fail to do it, doing the opposite instead, it can affect you mentally".
The point I am trying to make is this: the more life seems to be getting more challenging, more difficult, more burdensome to many it's the more people are becoming selfish, hostile, greedy, impatient and intolerant. Only a small minority of people seem to be genuine, patient, tolerant, honest and sincere.
Not only crime and violence, bomb blasts, sickness and old-age are claming people's lives throughout the world. Natural disasters are also destroying the lives of people. Hurricanes, earthquakes and volcanoes, from ever since, have done, and are doing great damage to people's lives.
While I was listening to a Bible teacher on the radio preaching he said earthquake killed 830,000 people in China. In Guatemala, volcano also killed many people. And in many other countries the trend continued. Many people lost their lives by the great unexpected tsunami and Katrina disasters.
It is said that every day a baby is born and everyday someone dies.
Suppose if people were only dying without giving birth? Half of the world's population would have already gone off the face of the earth.
Suppose if children were not having children may be the death rate would out number the existence rate.
Since life is so short and unpredictable, why not do our best today? Why not turn our hatred into love? Why not fight for peace? Why not take half of the loaf and let your brother, your sister get the other half? Remember, you come into the world with nothing and you will leave with nothing. It is easier said than done.
Thanks again.
