THE EDITOR, Sir:
Leighton Levy wrote a very nice piece entitled 'Nowhere nuh nice like yard'. That is one of the reasons why I am still a Jamaican citizen. In spite of the number of wanton murders which take place on a daily basis, I am still happy here. Being at home, there is not as much stress as in foreign countries. I salute all the well-thinking patriots who will not give away their country for anything under God's sun.
Despite the raging warring factions in certain sections in the country, we can still give praises to God for life in these challenging times. We have no famine and no civil wars in spite of what is happening on local soil. Jamaicans are some of the hardest workers and most ambitious people. The genuine Jamaican is a 'sample' citizen, a person of high praise and regard.
We might be small but the world recognises us as a shining light. Our diplomatic skills are second to none. Our rural citizens are some of the nicest persons.
The money in our pockets might not be much but we are still satisfied with the level of conscious thoughts being pursued by the locals. I am amazed at the impact of some of our vibrant citizens in establishing norms and values to the youthful population. Health care is very good and transportation is just fantastic. What more do we want, other than love in our hearts. Poverty per capita is constantly being reduced.
I am, etc.,
