Portmore Gardens F.C. clip National Irrigation 3-2 in action from the Candon Enterprise/St Catherine Division One Football League on Saturday at the Westchester playing field.

Portmore Gardens coach, Errol Wright, was happy with the win but thought his team could have won by a wider margin.

"We played alright but I think we could have won by more goals, the players started to relax after we went 3-0 up, and we let our opponents back into the game."

The win pushed unbeaten Gardens to 11 points from seven games, while National Irrigation remained on seven points, also from seven games.

Portmore Gardens went out to a 3-0 lead within sixteen minutes of the contest through strikes from Dwayne Depass (3rd), and Kevin Patterson (11th, 16th).

Irrigation pulled back a goal when Oneil Anderson scored in the 20th minute as the half ended with Gardens leading 3-1.

The home team failed to push forward in the second half and fitter Irrigation began to take control and scored through Nicholas Miller in the 65th minute to make it 3-2 laying the foundation for an interesting last 25 minutes.

The goal conceded by Gardens forced them to play with more urgency, but they missed chances to put away Irrigation for good. In one particular play the burly Earl Edwards kicked one hard and low that came back off the right post from close range.

"We played a bit lethargic today, we just have to go back to the drawing board and improve our performance on the field," Joseph Gyles, coach of National Irrigation said.
