Second recorded murder for the year

It has been two days into the new year and Clarendon has recorded its second murder.

Alphanso 'City Cat' Williams, 37, of New Bowens, was shot dead by unknown persons in the district last night.

Police reports are that at 8 p.m. residents heard explosions and alerted the police. On the arrival of investigators, Williams' body was found with gunshot wounds in bushes off New Bowens Boulevard. The crime scene was processed and the body taken to the morgue. The Hayes police are investigating.

The first murder of the new year in Jamaica was committed in the parish just two hours after the new year had begun.

Livingston Roberts, 62, also known as 'Starie', a taxi driver from Rasta Corner, Freetown, Clarendon, was ambushed by thieves waiting outside his home.

According to police reports, shortly after 2:30 a.m., Roberts, who had been a taxi driver for eight years, went home and parked his car when he was accosted by the men, with knives and handguns, who demanded money. Shortly after, explosions were heard.

Four hours after the attack, residents found Roberts on a dirt road about eight feet from his gate lying in a pool blood.
