What It's About: Tim Allen is back as the merry Santa Clause; this time with a wife in toe and a baby on the way. While Santa (Allen) is busy preparing for Christmas, his wife wants her family near for the birth of her child. Santa makes it happen and turns the North Pole into Canada where his in-laws believe their daughter and new husband live.
Everything takes a turn when Jack Frost (Martin Short) tricks Santa into wishing he was never made into Santa Clause. Back to being a normal man, Allen's character is callous and uncaring when it comes to his family as Frost takes over the role of Santa and turns Christmas into a commercial affair with flights going to and from the North Pole. In the end, Allen re-emerges as Santa Clause with his family and new baby at his side.
Long Story Short: Santa Clause 3 makes an attempt at looking at how commercial the holiday season has become. Which, in a way, is ironic because the idea of a 'Santa Clause' is a very commercial buying and giving gifts aspect of the holiday season. The movie makes an attempt at looking at the value of family, especially at this time of year, and throws in a little (and I mean a little) touch of comedy into the mix. Overall, the first two were much better, this one makes a weak attempt at continuing the tradition, but the very young might still like it.
Reel Lowdown: If you liked Santa Clause and Santa Clause 2 you'll enjoy this flick.
