Oneshott - Ricardo Makyn
Spanish Town, St. Catherine
Haldane Blake is holding firm to his Jamaican roots as he sets his musical career in motion.
Blake, who goes by the stage name Oneshott, was born in Toronto, Canada, to Jamaican parents and, although only 19 years old, is showing great potential.
Inspired by the late entertainer Tupac, Oneshott told The STAR that music was his true calling.
Inspiring
"I found that the music is quite inspiring and although I do rapping, I have worked with several artistes like Munga and Capleton and Anthony Cruz and I find it to be great."
He commented that so far he has done the following collaborations: Side to Side with Munga, She is a Wifey, with Anthony Cruise and Overtime with Capleton.
Oneshott, who also performs on his own label, Cold Front Music, claimed that to branch out in reggae was beneficial in that it offered great flexibility.
Oneshott has performed across Toronto and other parts of Canada and said that his aim was to expand his repertoire and gain worldwide acceptance.
"Money is not the only motivation. I want to present myself as a messenger of change and I can do this through my music."
Other influential artistes who have impacted Oneshott are Nas, Lady Saw, Jah Cure, Beenie Man and Bounty Killer, QQ, Baby Cham, Anthony Cruise, Mavado and others.
Managed by his father, Michael Blake, Oneshott said he intended to fly the reggae banner high in taking his career forward.
