WESTERN BUREAU-
Three Haitians who entered the island illegally will have to return home as a deportation order was made when they faced the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday. Another will face trial for aiding and abetting illegal entry.
Facing deportation are, Gladys Pamphile, Sandy Grezil and Andrew Hudson, all of Haiti, while Donald Malcolm of Sandy Bay, Hanover will face trial on January 22.
Grezil, who told the police that the father of her baby, which was also found with them, was dead, in begging for mercy told RM Winsome Henry to reconsider the deportation order as they would get into further trouble when they return to Haiti. She also told the court that her 8 month old baby's father is Jamaican, but said he would not be willing to attend court to help her as he too fears being arrested for having got involved with illegal immigrants.
$10,000 fine
However the order was not withdrawn. The three were also fined $10,000 or three months in prison.
The court heard that on November 10 members of operation Kingfish carried out operations at Malcolm's home in Sandy Bay, Hanover.
The three Haitians and a baby belonging to Grezil were seen. Three passports including 2 Jamaican passports and a French Guiana passport, belonging to Malcolm were also recovered and were later confirmed as fraudulent.
The Haitians were subsequently handed over to immigration where it was discovered that Pamphile arrived in Jamaica on a boat over two years ago with Malcolm, who is said to be her fiancé. Grezil arrived in a similar fashion five months ago and Hudson was on route to Miami, but ended on Jamaican shores.
