Accused forger bailed
A Portmore woman, accused of using a forged passport to withdraw $100,000 from an account, was granted $100,000 bail in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
Tanisha Dick appeared before RM Lorna Errar Gayle and was represented by attorney-at-law Earl Hamilton who told the court that his client erred in withdrawing the money.
He asked that the RM do something for her, as she was persuaded by friends.
RM Gayle said that the money she withdrew would have to be repaid before the next step could be considered.
Detective Constable Valencia Raphael told the court that in November the 26-year-old woman went to the Portmore branch of COK Credit Union, and used a forged passport with her picture to collect money from the institution.
She went back a few days later, but the police were called in and she was taken into custody and charged with uttering forged document and attempting to obtain money by means of forged documents.
