Three members of the notorious Montego Bay-based Stone Crusher gang were shot dead early Thursday morning during a joint military-police operation in St. Ann.
One of the dead men, identified only as 'Damion' was reportedly wanted in connection with the murder of Sergeant Allan Lindsay who was shot dead in Glendevon, St. James two Sundays ago.
The police also managed to recover a bullet-proof vest and a firearm, which was allegedly taken from the slain cop.
Two other firearms, a nine-millimetre pistol and a .38 revolver were also reportedly seized.
Up to press time yesterday, the other two men were unidentified.
Police reports say that shortly after 1:00 a.m., a joint military-police operation, which was being spearheaded by Operation Kingfish, was conducted at the Montage Housing Scheme in St. Ann.
It is further reported that the team came under gunfire from the men.
A gun battle then ensued. The three men were fatally shot.
Police intelligence indicates that criminals are moving from community to community in a bid to evade the police. Citizens are urged to alert the police upon noticing strange men in their community.
