Thanks to a joint military-police operation in St. Catherine, another illegal weapon has been removed from our nation's streets.

A 14-year-old youth was one of two persons arrested and charged last night for breaches of the Firearms Act

The other person is 18-year-old Silom McLeod. Both are from Windsor Heights in the parish.

Police reports are that the team was conducting an operation in the area. THE STAR was told that the team was in search of wanted men, drugs and illegal weapons.

During a raid of a premises said to be occupied by the two, a home-made shotgun, along with a 12-gauge cartridge, was reportedly found.

Both youths are booked to appear in court next week.
