Vybz Kartel denied being the father of a child in the song 'Jacket'. - Claudine Housen
Following a dispute between the mother of his child, Sherika Todd, a DNA test has proven that Adijah Palmer, more popularly known as Vybz Kartel, is the biological father of their eight-month old daughter, Adi'anna.
"The results were sent to my doctor last Tuesday and everything is confirmed, Addi is the daddy," Sherika told the STAR.
"Obviously, I feel good and it's not like I had any doubts, because I wasn't cheating on him or anything like that. But, basically, Addi admit to me that he had to do me something because me did do him something," Todd said.
The two had been having personal differences recently when Todd decided to end her four-year relationship with Kartel, the father of her child.
Child support
According to Todd, following the break-up, "he started saying that he was going to stop taking care of Adi'anna and there were some threats that he sent to me."
But now that everything is in the open, Todd says she still has not decided to put off their court case. "I don't know what is going to happen as yet, but he hasn't spoken to me up front about what exactly he plans to do in terms of supporting his child."
Todd had taken out a court case against Kartel for child support, a case that is expected to be heard on December 21 in St. Ann, where Todd and the child currently reside.
Kartel, who could not be reached for a comment on the matter by The STAR, was reported to have said in a newspaper article that he was willing to accept Adi'anna, but had to be sure before making such a commitment.
