The police are now pursuing a man who they say is wanted for the murder of Assistant Commissioner of Police Gilbert Kameka.
In a release, issued the cops say they need the public's help. "The police are seeking the assistance of the public in bringing into custody Massinissa Akhenaton Adams, otherwise called 'Massi', who is wanted for the murder of Assistant Commissioner of Police, Gilbert Kameka," it said.
The release further stated that Adams was a member of the infamous Joel Andem gang and is considered armed and dangerous. He frequents the areas of Mount Industry, Papine, Kintyre, and Gordon Town. "The police are imploring Adams to surrender as quickly as possible," the release also said.
ACP Kameka was one of two police officers killed in a 24-hour-span last Thursday. He was found dead shortly after midday in Irish Town, St. Andrew. He had served the Jamaica Constabulary Force for 28 years and was the commander of the Area Four police.
Constable Valentino Chambers who was attached to the Hannah Town Police Station was also killed along Slipe Pen Road.
In the meantime, the police say they wish to thank all residents who have provided information about a number of cases.
