Jamaica prepare for Carib Beer Series

KINGSTON, Jamaica (CMC)

In a bid to ride on their KFC Cup success, Jamaica begun preparation for the Carib Beer West Indies first-class championship on Tuesday.

Most of the 28 players took part in Tuesday's and yesterday's training sessions under the watchful eyes of coach Junior Bennett, who acknowledged things had been going well, expect for some rain.

"We got through the sessions and now just looking to start the four-day trial at Kensington Park," he said.

The first of four four-day trial matches begins today.

West Indies captain Chris Gayle, Marlon Samuels, Jerome Taylor, Daren Powell and Brenton Parchment are also named in the squad and will join the party upon their return to the island from the regional side's tour of southern Africa.
