Girl mowed down by car

spanish town

The White Marl Primary and Junior High suffered the loss of one of its student following a motor vehicle accident along the Mandela Highway on Tuesday.

Dead is Anmarie Mayne, seven, of Little Lane, Central Village, St. Catherine.

Reports say about 7:45 a.m. Mayne was hit by a Toyota Corolla motorcar. The vehicle hit the child, who was dressed in uniform, as she crossed the street.

Corporal Lloyd Wellington of the Central Village Traffic Department said a thorough investigation will have to be done to ascertain if speeding was a factor.

For years, students attending the school have been the victims of road fatalities.
