The police have reportedly nabbed a suspect in the abduction and murder of a couple who were found with their throats slashed in Mount Salus, St. Andrew on Friday.
The suspect is said to be related to a popular dancehall artiste but the police are withholding his identity pending further investigations.
According to police reports, the bodies of 24-year-old Tyawo McKenzie and 23-year-old Jhanel Whyte were found with the throats slashed in Mount Salus, St. Andrew, Friday.
Reports are that last Tuesday, the couple's vehicle was involved in an accident with a motorcycle in the Havendale area. A man who was a pillion rider on the motorcycle was injured and subsequently taken to the University hospital.
It is further reported that the couple made arrangements to take medication to the injured rider at a community off Red Hills Road, St. Andrew. When they arrived, they were allegedly forced into a vehicle.
The couple were then forced to contact their relatives and mention that a ransom of US$100,000 was ordered for their safe return.
It is understood that the kidnappers also took White's banking card and proceeded to withdraw $30,000 from her account.
The ransom was not forthcoming so the kidnappers slashed the throats of the couple.
The injured rider is said to be the one in custody while the other is still being sought by the police.
The Major Investigation Task Force are still investigating.
