After time out from music for a number of years to focus on life as a family man, singer Tony Anthony has cleared his head and is ready for music once again.
The name Tony Anthony might sound familiar to some. Anthony began his career at age 15 with a second place finish at Tastee talent contest semi-final in Kingston.
After that he had a stint on the north coast music scene on the hotel circuit as a member of the Foundation band. After two years performing at hotels, Tony moved on to become a founding member of the Daffodils, whose debut single Miss Your Love enjoyed success in Jamaica and the Caribbean.
Anthony stayed with the Daffodils, who eventually changed their name to Crucial Vibes, and travelled extensively to North America, Europe and the Caribbean performing alongside Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Dennis Brown, Cocoa Tea, Jimmy Cliff, and Freddie McGregor to name a few.
Anthony's career continued to flourish when he moved to Canada and joined the soul group, After Dark whose first single Took Me for Granted became a hit in the European dance scene. While Anthony enjoyed years in the entertainment business, he took a break to be a single father to his daughter.
Now that his daughter is grown Anthony is returning with a new CD 'Cease Now' to be released in April, 2008. Still living in Canada, Anthony often comes to Jamaica to work with talented musicians such as Dean Fraser.
According to Anthony he has songs such as Cry Out and Got to go Now enjoying airplay on countless local stations and will soon be putting a face to his sensual voice with a music video for his song Mark and the Beast.
He told The star, "I'm mostly into roots cultural reggae and lover's rock. The CD is going to do well. The music I'm doing is to help di yutes who look to music for help. I'm trying to show them that being a gangsta isn't the only way."
