Ziggi gets a 'Reason'

Artiste: Ziggi

Album: So Much Reasons

Genre: Reggae/Dancehall

Rating: 3 out of 5

Ziggi's So Much Reasons brings an eclectic mix from the Netherlands. Ziggi is Holland's top reggae/dancehall singer and this is his debut album.

Ziggi's So Much Reasons is a little bit of everything with a mixture of reggae, dancehall with a definite club vibe. The CD includes various 'interludes' which present an extended interview with the artiste on his first debut album.

Ziggi has the ability to swiftly interchange between his singing voice and his deejaying style.

So Much Reasons lacks a real street feel and can be classified as a party/girls album with a few conscious songs to add some balance. Hear Me When I Pray is one of the few conscious songs talking about life in the streets and going through difficult times.

With soothing vocals and a sweet melody Hear Me When I Pray warrants a replay. The CD is filled with a whopping nine collaborations, most of which have the party vibe.

In My Head featuring Shanaira Rey has a reggaeton Cuban mix feel to it. There Again featuring Shy Rock has a hip hop dancehall feel that makes one want to party. Another stand out is the remix to Turbulence's hit song Notorious.

Lyrically, Ziggi focuses a lot on the women, whether it is them haunting him in There Again or wanting them in his bed in Inna Mi Bed which features Elephant Man.

The beats in the songs are interesting, one never knows what vibe will be on the next song as he mixes the reggae with blues, soca and reggaeton well. From an International act it is a fun CD to listen to.
