I wonder if it's that bag of water that's got her thinking. - Ricardo Makyn photos
Recently, I met one of the warmest persons ever. Her name is Vera Roofe, the former Inspector of the Poor of the St. Catherine Parish Council. While I was at the Spanish Town Infirmary, I noticed a group of mostly elderly persons being served lunch from members of the Hampton Green Missionary Church.
And, as I watched the proceeding, I saw a very modest-looking lady humbly asking everyone to join a line so they could be served. Upon investigating, I found that she was the person who came up with the idea of getting different churches, communities and private sector bodies involved in this venture of assisting the homeless and indigent persons in and around Spanish Town with lunch on a daily basis.
Trust me, you could see the joy on a few of the faces of these persons who, otherwise, might have had to be on the streets begging. I just want to give a thumbs-up to Mrs. Roofe and to all other Jamaicans who can find it in their hearts to be so kind to try and assist others.

I wonder what's on his mind.
