Queen Ifrica is the daughter of veteran artiste Derrick Morgan. Although being the daughter of a famous singer, Ifrica did not come face to face with her dad until she was 22.
While many persons would have known their fathers much earlier, Queen Ifrica said she was not as fortunate growing up. But, she has since been counting her blessings after meeting and connecting with her biological father singer Derrick Morgan.
Ifrica was raised with her mother and her mother's family for the majority of her life, not fully knowing that she had a famous father. With comments to her face and whispers behind closed doors, the name Derrick Morgan and Ifrica's soon became intertwined. It was when Ifrica was 22 that she came face to face with the man she would call 'daddy'.
"I met him (Derrick Morgan) when I was a big woman. I am his last child out of the 'washbelly'. I was an outside child, which was something beyond his control that he couldn't raise me," she said.
After meeting him, it was a perfect fit, with his side of the family fully accepting her into the fold. She explains: "He's a legend of our music, a man of his time. To have one of his children follow in his footsteps is a fantastic feeling. I can always pick up the phone and call him. He's proud of me and we have a good relationship," she said.
