Security guard found with

A security guard employed to a small company along Old Hope Road was arrested and charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, after he was found with a weapon which he could not account for.

The guard, 30-year-old Pierre Dixon, otherwise called 'Perry', of a Hamilton Gardens, Portmore, St. Catherine address, was arrested and charged on October 25.

Reports are that about 6:15 p.m., a unit from the mobile patrol was in the Grove Road area of Kingston 10 and spotted a grey Suzuki Swift with a broken tail lamp. The vehicle was signalled to stop, the driver came out and was accosted and searched.

A chrome Beretta semi-automatic pistol with the serial number erased was taken from his waist. He reportedly failed to tell the officers where he got the weapon from. Dixon was dressed in full uniform and was also wearing ID.

The matter will be brought before the court at a later date.
