'Wicked' dancing for a good cause

By André Jebbinson, Staff Reporter

Today, the dancers will role out at St. Jago High School in St. Catherine at a charity concert to benefit two students. Amid their high-velocity hype and craze, in each of the dancers there lies a soft spot.

"Wi feel good to seh at the end of the day when you put it on a level seh wi coulda help. A dem put wi inna di position wi in, a dem endorse the career," said John Bling of Black Blingaz.

"We have to look at it from both sides. A coulda wi want di help. Wi haffi look out fi di rest a people dem," Overmars of Ravers Clavers said.

Onieka Taylor, an accident victim, and Ransford Roper, who suffers from a severe case of bow legs stand to benefit from the concert's proceeds. The dancers had words of encouragement for each of them.

"A children wi seh. Dat is where we are coming from. A coulda di last, wi ago push fi help dem," Shelly Belly said.

With that aside, dancing will still take centre stage and for that Overmars will have no soft spot.

"Wi expect fi si some crazy tings. We have di current and others see it and a try bridge it. We a go tek it to dem. A nuh no one, two, three ting. Wi ago duh wi ting suh people can seh wi left wi stamp a Jago," Overmars said.

"Di fans dem a go happy fi si wi and glad wi can be a part of it. A give wi a give back and dat's all a part of it. Without them, wi couldn't reach weh wi reach," Showers Sample of Sample Six said.
